The first coins portraying King Charles III are being minted by the Royal Mint in Wales and will begin circulating in December, replacing those featuring the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The reverse features a memorial to the late monarch, a design from her 1953 Coronation Crown.

It depicts the Royal Arms in a shield. Between each shield is a rose, thistle, shamrock, and leek.

The Royal Mint captioned a video of the coins being made, "The first coins bearing His Majesty King Charles III's face are striking as we speak. You can expect to see 50ps with the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial design before Christmas."
