Even Spider-Man faces societal constraints today. Andrew Garfield, 39, struggled with the "societal obligation" of fatherhood by 40.
The Brit claimed it was hard to accept that his life was on a "different path" and that his mother, Lynn, wouldn't become a grandma before her death in 2019.
"Releasing myself from the societal expectation to procreate by 40 was exciting," he told British GQ. "How do I explain why that didn't happen?"
Accepting a different path than what was expected of me from birth. By now, you'll have done this and had at least one child, he said. "I feel guilty." As a male, it's easier," he added.
The actor has reportedly reunited with ex-girlfriend Alyssa Miller after their breakup earlier this year. Oscar-nominated "Tick, Tick, Boom!"
Celebrity and the SI Swimsuit model first dated in November 2021, then split. Garfield has dated Emma Stone and Rita Ora.
