Dave Chappelle gave a "fake" "Saturday Night Live" speech during the night's dress rehearsal, sources alleged and then switched his material for the live performance.

A source told Page Six: "Dave delivers a bogus monologue during the dress rehearsal since he doesn't want ['SNL' creator] Lorne Michaels, or anybody else, to know what his genuine monologue is."

The insider said Chappelle joked about a scriptwriter who refused to work with him this week. Some staff writers were so angry that the comedian, who's made racist, sexist, and homophobic jokes, was picked to host that they skipped the broadcast.

Chappelle's rep informed us there was nothing to imply any boycott when Chappelle and his team visited the "SNL" writers' sessions last week.

An insider told Page Six that Chappelle's joke during rehearsal "flared tensions." The comic subsequently revised his speech for the official NBC live show.

Chappelle denounced anti-Semitism in all forms and stood with Jewish friends. "That's how you buy time, Kanye," he said of West's anti-Semitic remarks.

Chappelle's attention on the matter didn't stop there. He also remarked on Nets star Kyrie Irving's expulsion from the NBA franchise after the basketball star shared links to an anti-Semitic movie.

Jewish activist Rudy Rochman described Chappelle's monologue as "careful and deliberate" Adam Feldman, editor of Time Out New York, believes Dave Chappelle's SNL monologue normalized anti-Semitism more than Kanye.

Others praised the comic. Loni Love tweeted that Chappelle's "SNL" monologue was "vintage Chappelle" current affairs, relevant and funny."

Chappelle last hosted in 2020, before Netflix aired "The Closer" in 2021. Some spectators were outraged by Chappelle's trans jokes. Chappelle participated in the comedy sketch with musical guests Black Star. He co-hosts Luminary's "Midnight Miracle" podcast.
