Brittany and Paris, 41, avoid the topic when they meet. "We're both protective of our moms, but we're also close. If we allowed that to disrupt our dynamic, it would be painful and difficult to untangle."

Paris joined in September. The "Stars Are Blind" singer liked derogatory tweets about her aunt Kathy Richards, 53, after being accused of "mocking" her for promoting a tequila company.

Paris tweeted, "So harsh," after a fan stated it was "terrible to watch" Richards "scoff" when Kathy tried to exhibit Casa Del Sol, in which the socialite invests, in Aspen, Colo.

Brittany told Zack Peter she was tempted to protect her mother. "Before, I'd say, 'Who cares what others say?' She said, "Whatever." I was quite emotional during her last season. I wanted to tell everyone, "You don't know everything."

Brittany is upset by the hatred Kathy's supporters have shown Richards this season. "It bothers me that she sacrificed so much and was so adored," she added of her mother, who has been on "RHOBH" since its 2010 launch.

"But this audience is very fickle; if they favor certain people, they can do wrong," Brittany said. "If people turn against you, you can't do anything right. Where's the loyalty?"
