On Monday, Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Forfar attended Georgetown University's Institute for Women, Peace, and Security's Hillary Rodham Clinton Awards presentation in Washington, D.C.
Sophie, 57, received the medal for fighting physical assault in combat zones.
Sophie left the podium for a tissue during Prince Edward's wife's speech.
"Would you just pardon me for a minute — I just need a tissue. Sorry, "She laughed and left the microphone. "Okay, that's a first for me," she stated when she returned.
