Tia Mowry understood when to end her 14-year marriage to Cory Hardrict. "Sister, Sister" alum, 44, remarked on "Today": "I knew when I started focusing on my pleasure."

"Women tend to focus on everyone else's happiness, making sure our children, friends, and family are OK, but it's about self-love," she said.

"When you work on yourself, appreciate yourself, realize your value and worth, there's an awakening," said Mowry, a mother of two.

"It's not easy," she added. It's a hard trip, but it's worth it," she said to applause from the audience.

Mowry said treatment and losing relatives helped her decide. "It was all of that together," she remarked. Mowry called her breakup with Hardrict a "celebration" and a "success."

The "Comfort Kitchen" host sees it as a curriculum. "You're learning, growing, evolving, and creating, and I created beautiful, lovely children with Cory."

"Staying in something doesn't equate to success," she said. Are you happy? Life is short."

Mowry confirmed their split on Instagram in October. The "Family Reunion" alum captioned a throwback photo with the "All American: Homecoming" star, "These decisions are never simple, and not without sadness."

She stated, "I'm grateful for all the good times we had together and want to thank my friends, family, and fans for their love and support as we start this new chapter."

Mowry alleged irreconcilable differences in the divorce filing and asked for shared physical and legal custody of their children. Mowry and Hardrict are parents to Cree, 11, and Cairo, 4. Hardrict denied infidelity charges when the divorce was announced.
