Cheryl Burke's retiring. The 38-year-old stated on Nov. 20 that she is departing Dancing With the Stars after almost 17 years.

The current season 31, in which she just participated with TV meteorologist Sam Champion, will be her last. She'll dance her last on Nov. 21.

"This is one of the biggest things of my life, but I'm convinced it's the correct one," she wrote. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This next chapter of my career will be tough to top. Then... Always and forever, xx."

Cheryl spoke exclusively to E! News about her DWTS exit, which happened more than a month ago. "Dancing with the Stars is over," she said. "Life-changing. I've been crying nonstop, and I never cry."

Cheryl debuted on DWTS in 2006. They won the Mirror Ball Trophy. Next season, Cheryl won with Emmitt Smith. It was Cheryl's final Mirror Ball Trophy win; she has since competed in seasons 4, 19, 23, 25, and 27.

Cheryl explained her leaving. "There's wear and tear" from a weekly show, she said. "But my heart tells me to explore. Humans evolve. I do. I hope I'm always a work in progress."

Burke In The Game is Cheryl's iHeartRadio podcast. In October, she first said, "this is my last season" on DWTS.

In May, while divorcing Matthew Lawrence, she debuted her podcast. Cheryl addresses her challenges and contacts specialists. Cheryl told E! News, "Because of this platform, I can utilize my voice to help people."

In an Instagram post, she said, "I'm enthusiastic about changing, being pushed in new ways, expanding my dedication to mental health awareness, and focusing on my newfound love for podcasting. I have a few things up my sleeve, so don't worry."

Cheryl isn't the only DWTS veteran leaving after this season. Len Goodman, the show's head judge since 2005, announced his departure days earlier.

Cheryl is quitting DWTS but not the ballroom. Cheryl told E! News she wasn't interested in becoming a judge or hosts like Derek and Julianne Hough. "OMG. Definitely." Also, "I provide much. I'm ballroom-savvy."
